Colombia's incumbent president, Alvaro Uribe Velez, has officially been recognized as the winner of the country's May 28 presidential elections, the Colombian National Electoral Council said June 16. The council also recognized Francisco Santos as the winner of the vice presidential race. Uribe secured his victory in the first round, receiving 62 percent of the votes in the election.
