India's Reliance eyes CRP petchem project - Venezuela
Media Release
Jun. 16, 2006

Indian industrial conglomerate Reliance has expressed interest in partnering with Venezuela's state petrochemicals firm Pequiven to manufacture plastics, resins and other petrochemicals from refinery byproducts, Pequiven president Saul Ameliach told BNamericas.

The goal is to sign a joint venture contract with Reliance for a project in Paraguana, Falcon state, due to its experience in producing petrochemicals from refinery byproducts, Ameliach said. Byproducts would come from the 956,000 barrel-a-day CRP refining complex in Paraguana.

A delegation from Reliance is scheduled to visit in the coming days, he added.

Earlier this year the project was deemed too ambitious for Pequiven to take on by itself.
