Afghan and coalition forces continue Operation Mountain Thrust in Uruzgan, Helmand, Kandahar and Zabul provinces of southern Afghanistan

Afghan and coalition forces began Operation Mountain Thrust on June 15, including large-scale military operations in the Uruzgan, Helmand, Kandahar and Zabul provinces of southern Afghanistan, the U.S. military announced. The operation does not have a scheduled end date and will continue through the summer until all objectives are met. Meanwhile, militants detonated a hidden explosive device on a bus carrying Afghan workers to a coalition base in Kandahar city, killing at least 10 people and injuring another 15, a coalition spokesman said.
