The Nepalese government and Maoist rebels resumed peace talks in Kathmandu on June 15. Negotiators involved in the talks said a meeting between rebel chief Prachanda and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala is likely to take place in the coming days. The rebels are calling on the government to dissolve parliament and hold elections to a special assembly that would draw up a new constitution in order to create a government that includes the Maoists.
