"The middle class of India, China and Japan will equal or exceed that of North America in years to come," said Howard, who was accompanied by Australian business leaders.

India's Reliance Petroleum signed an agreement Tuesday with Santos Ltd., a major Australian oil and gas exploration company, for oil exploration in Southeast Asia.
