Increasing protectionist rhetoric from the U.S. Congress is ''a worrying development'': World Trade Organization

World Trade Organization is worried over US Law makers frustrations over Chinese Trade surpluss. However, WTO must understand US Administration has waited enough for China change its manipulative currency policies.

According to media reports, worrying development," Pascal Lamy, head of the World Trade Organization (WTO), said Feb. 15. Lamy added that it is understandable that the United States'' increasing trade deficit is creating anxieties, but that China's rising wealth is good for the United States. In response to a congressionally sponsored report recommending that the United States file a complaint with the WTO over China's intervention in the value of its currency, Lamy said the WTO does not have any legal authority to adjudicate currency manipulation.
