Signalling India's interest in developing long-term economic ties with Myanmar [Burma], President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will undertake a state visit to the country from 8 March

During his three-day ''goodwill'' trip, Kalam will hold talks with Senior General Than Shwe, chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of Myanmar, on the entire gamut of bilateral relations.

Signalling India's interest in developing long-term economic ties with Myanmar [Burma], President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will undertake a state visit to the country from 8 March, first such trip by an Indian head of state. He will also address professors and students at Yangon [Rangoon] University, interact with scientists, intellectuals and school children, as well as pay his respects at the historic Shwe Dagon Pagoda and at the memorial of the last Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, External Affairs Ministry said in a statement here.
