Japan co-partner International Engineering and Technology Fair in India
Japan is showing increasing desire of technology partnersip with India.
According to media reports, Japan will be the partner country at the four-day International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF), organised by industry body CII, to be held here from February 13, 2007.
A memorandum of understanding was signed by CII Trade Fair Committee Chairman Subodh Bhargava and JETRO Chairman and CEO Osamu Watanabe, CII said in a statement.
Under the MoU, Japan would occupy a raw space area of 5,779 sq kms, while CII would provide logistical support.
"Japan's participation as the partner country will provide a fillip to Japanese investment in India," Bhargava said.
He added that it would also strengthen technical cooperation to improve the competitiveness of India's manufacturing industry.
Pointing to a Japanese Embassy report which said that Japan's FDI to India would amount to more than US$1.8 billion over three years, he said everybody was keen to work eagerly and seriously to get business opportunities with India.
Watanabe, in his address, said that India was gradually occupying the mind space of Japanese investors because of its phenomenal economic development.
"Today, in Japan, India is getting more and more attention because of its big economic growth," he said.
He added that business relations between the two countries would mature, since there was a sense of affinity and closeness.
CII expressed optimism that Japan's participation as partner country in IETF 2007 would serve as a platform to increase present levels of bilateral trade and investment between the two countries and further strengthen their cooperation.
