Japan and North Korea are close to an agreement to hold bilateral talks
Special Correspondent
Oct. 24, 2005

Japan and North Korea are close to an agreement to hold bilateral talks in early November in Beijing over issues such as North Korean abductions of Japanese citizens, Japan's Kyodo News agency reported Oct. 24, citing sources close to the negotiations. Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program likely will also be on the agenda, the sources said. The talks would be the first between the two countries since November 2004.
