Telecom outsourcing boom - Ericsson opens R&D, managed service centre in India

According to media sources, LM Ericsson AB said it is opening a research and development centre in Chennai, India.
The company also said it is setting up a global services delivery centre in India to strengthen its managed services business in the country.
Ericsson's chief executive Carl-Henric Svanberg said the company plans to strengthen its position in the Indian market through a strategy of local supply and manufacturing, research and development, and expansion of its global service capability.
He said the company was the first multinational company to manufacture GSM radio base stations in India, with the first one delivered earlier this year in March.
