Remote hills of the Tangail district in Bangladesh – Islamic militants assemble around their supreme leader – Osama Bin Laden?
Hari Shankar
Oct. 22, 2005

Is that Osama Bin Laden and his Al-Queda’s new training and hibernating ground?

Islamist militants in Bangladesh evading a crackdown following Aug. 17 nationwide bomb blasts are regrouping in the remote hills of the Tangail district, about 62 miles northwest of the capital, Dhaka. Hundreds of members of the banned group Jamaat al Mujahideen arrested in connection with the attacks, which killed three and wounded over 150, said they received military training in the hills and madrassas of Tangail.

Police have said they have no information that militants are hiding in isolated areas of the district.

But sources and signal intelligence reaching India point towards a major Al-Queda figure in Tangail district leading the Jihadists.
