This was a show of force and support between east and west Ukraine.

While Western Ukrain’s nationalist feelings forget the atrocities of Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime, the east Ukraine cannot. UNA-UNSO, a hardcore Ukrainian nationalist group supportive of the current regime and represented almost exclusively in Western Ukraine, held a rally in Kiev on Oct. 15 to mark the 63rd anniversary of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) created with Adolf Hitler's blessing in 1942. The UPA at times helped Nazi Germany fight the Soviet Army and anti-Nazi Ukrainian partisans in World War II.

That is where the east and west Ukraine does not agree. Socialist and communist parties'' supporters clashed with the rally's participants, with police unable to rein in the clashes, Ukrainian media reports.
