India and Taiwan are ready to make history in the IT sector. Indian software cpmpanies are helping Taiwan IT corporations to set up offshore design centers (ODCs) in Bangalore.

According to media sources, an Indian software company said Friday it looks forward to helping at least 10 Taiwan IT corporations to set up offshore design centers (ODCs) in Bangalore, India's software industry stronghold, in the coming year.

G.K. Pramod, country manager in Taiwan of SPA Computers Ltd., said he is convinced that Taiwan IT companies will be able to cut their research and development (R&D) costs through establishing ODCs in Bangalore.

Moreover, he went on, the practice will also enable Taiwan to use Bangalore's rich software development resources to design highly sophisticated and competitive computer chips.

SPA opened its Taiwan office four years ago and has emerged as the largest service provider for embedded software in Taiwan. The company provides IT solutions for semiconductor applications and its clients include a number of noted local high-tech giants such as Inventec, iEi, TSMC and PSC.

With Taiwan's expertise in electronics, hardware and telecommunications and India's expertise in software and services, Pramod said a perfect synergy can be built between the two countries.

"So SPA sees plenty of opportunities for its growth in Taiwan, " Pramod said, adding that his company will continue to expand its cooperation with Taiwan business groups in the coming year.
