Supporters of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein are trying to negotiate with the U.S. military regarding a halt to their insurgent operations in exchange for a vow that Hussein will not be executed after his trial, which is scheduled to begin Oct. 19, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani told Egypt's al-Ahram newspaper.
