India’s Iran position irritates America – is it worth anything supporting Iran?

If America can have the Saudis and Kuwaitis, why can India not have the Iranians for oil and gas? However, India must think well before it supports Iran on nukes. Iranian nukes in effect can be used by Pakistan any time against India. In addition Islamic militants can get hold of the nukes too, which can eventually haunt India and Israel.

The United States told India it is concerned about New Delhi's opposition to having Iran referred to the U.N. Security Council over Tehran's controversial nuclear program, a senior U.S. State Department official said Sept. 8. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be bring up the issue again during her meetings with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Foreign Minister Natwar Singh on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly session the week of Sept. 11.
