Strategic move in the making - Sri Lanka's newly appointed Foreign Minister Anura Bandaranaike, is on a two-day visit to India
Sonia Joshi
Aug. 26, 2005

Sri Lanka and India plans to work together to solve the LTTE problems

He arrived in New Delhi last evening. His visit to India comes just three days after he was sworn in as minister and assumes significance as Colombo and the LTTE [Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam] are preparing to hold talks to review the functioning of 2002-cease-fire agreement. Bandaranaike has succeeded Lakshman Kadirgamar, who was assassinated in Colombo a fortnight ago.

Bandaranaike met External Affairs Minister K. Natwar Singh this morning. The visiting dignitary is also calling on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA [United Progressive Alliance] Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today before leaving for Colombo in the evening.
