Why was Inzamam omitted from world XI cricket squad – Pakistan captain wonders?
It is a strange feeling. World one of the best batsman and captain Inzy is omitted from the world XI – Inzy wonders why?
According to media reports, Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq refused to criticise the ICC selection committee for omitting him from the world squads that will take on Australia later this year in three one-dayers and a Test.
Inzamam did not hide his disappointment at the exclusion but stopped short of criticising the committee led by Sunil Gavaskar.
"It's a bit of a surprise to me that they''ve not considered me good enough to make either squad. I''m disappointed but I''m not demoralised or disheartened," he said after arriving from South Africa where he led the Asian side in the Afro-Asia series.
The skipper refused to take sides with the trio of Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas and Hanif Mohammad who were peeved at Inzamam's exclusion and lamabasted the selection committee.
"What can I say? The selectors have made their decision; I think the people who follow cricket, are the ones you should talk too," Inzamam added.
Inzamam, who has an outstanding record of 10,971 one-day and 7,620 Test runs in 101 matches, said he would focus on preparing for the busy season ahead.
Denying that his confidence was dented at the omission, Inzamam said his main thrust would be to beat England at home later this year.
"But yes if I had played in the World XI it would have been a good preparation for me for our home series," Inzamam said.
