Chappell wonders if these are cricket players or sentimental business enterprise runners?

The run-up to the departure of the Indian team to Zimbabwe in the wee hours has upset coach Greg Chappell.

Chappell looked angry and upset when he stepped into the interview room at a five-star hotel, where the team had assembled prior to the departure, for the press conference and his answers to the first few questions reflected his state of mind.

According to cricket board sources, what upset him was the fact that the Indian team members were allowed to troop into the hotel as and when they pleased till late Monday evening, with captain Sourav Ganguly being among the last to make it at around 9:40 p.m.

Mohammed Kaif and Harbhajan Singh were seen checking in at 8 p.m. when the board's instructions had clearly said the members were to assemble in the morning, sources said.

The BCCI had earlier scheduled the media briefing at 6 p.m., which was later changed to 9 p.m. and finally started at 9:30 p.m. with Chappell, and Physio John Gloster addressing the media while Ganguly was conspicuous by his absence.

In fact, while Chappell, Gloster, trainer Gregory Allen King and bio-mechanic expert Ian Frazer were sporting India blazers at the media briefing, Ganguly, who addressed the media at 10 p.m. without any other team staff present, was surprisingly dressed in casual attire.
