Chavez of Venezuela blames Bush Administration – will Latin America be the next Middle East?
Kiran Chaube
Aug. 20, 2005

The rhetoric against US continues. Venezuela Government and Victor Chavez are as defiant as ever.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Aug. 18 that U.S. President George W. Bush is trying to manipulate world opinion to discredit Chavez's government. Chavez also hinted that the Bush administration likely will seek to blame the provincial strike in Ecuador on Venezuela's government. Some U.S. government officials, including Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, recently warned that Chavez and his strategic partner, Cuban leader Fidel Castro, are trying to destabilize Bolivia and Ecuador. Chavez denies the U.S. accusation.

According to international think tanks, Latin America may become as turbulent as the Middle East.
