Tendulkar doing great in the nets – ready for the next super season
Sachin Tendulkar is in great form. I just watched him in the net. Jee – he is back in form. It is such a pleasure to see this great legend bat!
According to media sources, Sachin Tendulkar is back in the nets for the first time since undergoing elbow surgery in May, hoping to regain fitness for next month's Test series in Zimbabwe.
The 32-year-old said on Wednesday that he had tested his left elbow by facing a few deliveries bowled at half pace the previous day.
Tendulkar felt it was too early to predict whether he would return for the Tests in Zimbabwe. The two-match series starts on September 13.
"I have to take it step by step. I can''t just go and start playing. I would like to go but the final decision on whether I''ll play or not is the doctor's decision," he said at a function organised by his sponsor in Mumbai.
Tendulkar said he did not to want to rush back in case the problem flared up again.
India's most prolific international batsman has been plagued by the injury since August 2004.
It forced him to miss 2004's Champions Trophy in England although he returned for the final two games of the home Test series against Australia in October and November.
Tendulkar played in the home series against Pakistan in March-April 2005 despite not being fully fit and then opted for surgery.
He has also had back, foot and finger injuries in the last six years, attributed mainly to wear and tear caused by constant cricket since he made his international debut as a teenager in 1989.
