Petroleum becoming a major issue and everywhere people hate foreign oil companies - Sixty injured in Ecuador in clashes

All over the world people hate foreign oil companies. Petroleum is a hot commodity. People are demanding their fair share of their countries oil resources. Foreign oil companies continue receive protests in every corner of the world where there is oil.

Sixty were injured in Ecuador in clashes between indigenous protesters demanding a renegotiation of foreign oil company contracts and security forces guarding oil installations, an official from the province of Sucumbios said Aug. 17. The official said security forces used tear gas, rubber bullets and light arms against protesters. The Amazonian provinces of Sucumbios and Orellana are the sites of demonstrations that have seen indigenous protesters occupy hundreds of oil wells since Aug. 14 and demand that foreign oil firms be required to create more local jobs and give more revenue to the government for public investment.
