India in highest alert – militants ready to disrupt but common people ready to confront the militants this time and celebrate Independence Day
This is a new India. This is anew determination. Indians today are embracing for battle if necessary against militant separatists in Kashmir and Northeastern Indian States. Indians plan to pay special respect to the flag and the independence leaders who fought brilliantly against the British.
India is in highest alert today as militants are ready to disrupt. But common people are ready to confront the militants this time and celebrate Independence Day. Thousands of security personnel are patrolling New Delhi, roadblocks for random vehicle checks have been set up and snipers have been deployed on high-rise buildings near the Red Fort complex where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will deliver a national address. Additionally, the capital's borders with neighboring states will be closed Aug. 16. The heightened security measures follow intelligence reports that several militant groups might attempt to carry out attacks during the celebrations.
