Lanka embraces revenge? Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga declared a state of emergency

Sri Lanka today is shaking with the smell of revenge and vengeance! Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga declared a state of emergency Aug. 13 following the Aug. 12 assassination of Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar, the president's spokesman said Aug. 13. The state of emergency will allow for the free deployment of emergency troops, the presidential spokesman added.
The Sri Lankan military on Aug. 12 blamed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam for the assassination of Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar.
