India after busting land mafia organized crime involving former Government officials and apartment developers
The saga is in every city. Low priced subsidized land is being illegally developed and apartments with high prices are being sold to the public. The permits are obtained illegally through a network of mafia style operators that involved the under world, former Indian Administrative Service officers and even the cops. India took some action in the capital with a promise that the same will follow in other cities.
CBI on Monday conducted early morning raids at 50 places in the national capital region in connection with the alleged misappropriation of lands in the name of cooperative group housing society.
The raids were being conducted after the agency registered four cases in this connection against several people including a retired IAS officer who superannuated his office as secretary of cooperative group housing societies last year.
The CBI FIR, filed before the designated court, alleged misappropriation of land in the name of CGHS and selling them at very high rates after construction of flats.
The irregularities are in every city, say experts. The probe will eventually extend to other parts of the country.
