Jul. 28, 2005

Iran announced that it has fully acquired solid-fuel technology with regards to its missile production capabilities. Defense Minister Rear Adm. Ali Shamkhani said this breakthrough would enhance Tehran's ability to develop missiles such as the medium-range Shahab-3 with a 1,200-mile range. Shamkhani added that there have been no flight tests of missiles equipped with solid fuel, but solid fuel motors -- one of two developed for Shahab-3 -- were tested in June.
