Abu Salem promises to get cats out of bag - Portugal to hand over Abu Salem to India
The real drama that started with Salman-Ash tape may take a new turn as Abu Salem tells the Indian authorities about what prominent politicians and Bollywood celebrities did in Mumbai to kill more than two hundred fifty people in Mumbai.
According to media sources in Lisbon, Portugal, One of India's most wanted men, suspected of involvement in a wave of bombings that killed 260 people, will be extradited from Portugal to India under an order by a Portuguese court, Portugal's Lusa news agency reported on Thursday.
Abu Salem will open the jar of worms to indict prominent politicians and Bollywood celebrities.
The Constitution Court upheld a ruling that approved India's request that the suspect, Abu Salem, be extradited, Lusa said. Salem has been held in Portugal since he was arrested with his wife in 2002 for fake documents and resisting arrest.
A Portuguese court sentenced him to four-and-a-half years in prison in 2003.
Court officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
Indian police accuse Salem of being a key associate of Indian criminal figure Dawood Ibrahim, whom they say planned and financed the 1993 bombings in Mumbai.
They say the blasts were retaliation for religious riots triggered by the destruction of an ancient mosque in 1992.
