Gang rapes in Delhi – political connections making police take little action?
Gang rapes are happening in Delhi quite frequently. The police are taking little action. According to the rumor zone, the rapists are political connected and police cannot do much.
According to media reports, as a grim reminder of how unsafe Delhi is for women, a 23-year-old housewife was abducted by four men in north-west Delhi on Wednesday and repeatedly gang-raped in a moving car, just two months after a similar incident not far from this spot shook the nation.
The woman, a resident of Mayapuri slum cluster, had gone to an open field at about 4.30 am this morning to answer nature's call when she was forced into the white Maruti car.
Two other women, who were also with her, tried to pull her free from the clutches of the men, but they were beaten up.
About two hours later, the woman was dumped off near Saraswati Vihar in north-west Delhi, almost 15 kilometers away from the place she was abducted, police sources said.
She had been repeatedly gang-raped and was in such a state of shock that she could not even say her name to personnel of the police control room (PCR) van, which found her. She finally wrote her name and address on a piece of paper, the sources said.
The woman was then taken to a hospital where a medical examination confirmed rape.
Delhi police, facing flak for its tardy investigations into the gang rape of a 22-year-old Delhi University student in May, was tight-lipped about the latest incident.
"We have registered a case and investigations are on," was all deputy commissioner of police (south-west district) R S Yadav was willing to comment.
