Out of mind or Out of vested interest - Mulayam accuses BJP and America for aiding militancy
He may seem to be out of mind and common wisdom but he is definitely talking out of some vested interest.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav has accused BJP and the US of aiding militancy but for different reasons.
Crazy as it may seem, he says he knows what he is talking about.
"American arms trade has led to the intensification of terrorist activities and BJP's belittling the efforts of our security forces on the recent attack (in Ayodhya) helps the cause of militancy. Therefore, I think both of them in their own way are helping the cause (militancy)", Mulayam said in an interview recently.
He claimed that after the 9/11 attack in New York he had advised the NDA government to just condemn it and not offer help to Americans but the BJP-led government did not pay heed to his suggestions.
This, he said, "aggravated the anger of militants across the world against India, leading to increased terrorist activities in the country," says Tadav.
Yadav contested Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal and BJP leader Jaswant Singh's claim that there was a security lapse that led to the attack in Ayodhya, saying their claims have no authenticity and they have no credibility.
"The Home Minister (Shivraj Patil) has given us a clean chit by praising the efforts of our security forces and ruling out the security failure theory," he said.
