Ending a series of embarrassing interaction with the Indian aviation industry and then bagging massive deals in the Paris Air show, Air Bust may have reached a deal with India that is untold – do not ask do not tell type.
According to media reports, a top Airbus Industrie official deployed for promoting aircraft sales in the Indian subcontinent has quit the company, weeks after creating a controversy over Air India's decision to acquire an all-Boeing 50-aircraft fleet.
Confirming that he has quit for greener pastures, the European aircraft manufacturer said in a statement here that Nigel Harwood, Senior Vice President of the company, was "a valuable member of the Airbus sales team for India".
"His decision to seek other challenges was his own. Airbus, on its part, wished Harwood the very best of success in his new ventures", the statement said.
Harwood had caused a major controversy by demanding that the Air India Board's decision to acquire Boeing aircraft should be probed by the Central Vigilance Commission. His statements had also led to a minor diplomatic row.
Reports said Harwood had quit Airbus Industrie to join the newly-launched Kingfisher Airlines, owned by liquor baron Vijay Mallya.
The private carrier recently struck a deal at the Paris Air Show to acquire 15 Airbus aircraft, including five of the world's largest planes A-380. The airline also placed orders for five of the yet-to-be launched A-350s.
