India refuses Pakistan’s terror coach to travel to Kashmir by bus
India showed for the first time that it would not deal with terror icons of Pakistan. According to sources close to the Government of India, India has refused to allow Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad to visit Kashmir. On the other hand, Sheikh Rashid has said that if he was not allowed to travel on the Kashmir bus, it would expose India's intention and the whole process of reconciliation would become dubious.
Sheikh Rashid was involved in training thousands of terrorists who killed innocent Kashmiri Hindus for decades. The genocide was directly supported by Pakistan.
He said that he had not yet received informal information on the rejection of his visa request. However, the report aired by the Indian television was wrong, but notice must be taken. He said he did not know why is India objecting to his visit. Now, India has started criticizing even my portfolio. The Indians must explain what worries them.
He said that about 100 journalists also wanted to accompany him on his visit to Occupied [Indian-administered] Kashmir, and the Indian ambassador in Pakistan had said that he had no objection. It may be recalled that the Indian Government is worried of the preparations going on in Kashmir for Sheikh Rashid's visit to Occupied Kashmir, and it has received reports that the visit would intensify the freedom struggle and large rallies might be staged during his visit.
India has yet to formally inform Pakistan whether or not Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad can visit held Kashmir [Indian-administered Kashmir], Foreign Office Spokesman Jalil Abbas Jillani told reporters on Saturday [18 June].
An Indian television channel claimed that the Indian high commission told Islamabad that Shaykh Rashid would not be permitted to visit Kashmir following news reports that the minister rain training camps for Kashmiri militants. "We have not yet received this correspondence from them," Jillani said.
An Indian government spokesman told the Indian channel that India could not welcome anyone involved in training militants.
Meanwhile, Navtej Sarna, Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesman, said the issue was very sensitive.
