Monsanto Co. (Ticker: MON) is showing signs of life. Monsanto Company and its subsidiaries provide agricultural products and integrated solutions for farmers. It produces seed brands and develops biotechnology traits that assist farmers in controlling insects and weeds. The company provides other seed companies with genetic material and biotechnology traits for their seed brands. It makes herbicide and other herbicides. Monsanto also provides lawn-and-garden herbicide products for the residential market and animal agricultural products. The company operates in two segments, Seeds and Genomics, and Agricultural Productivity. The Seeds and Genomics segment consists of the global seeds and related traits businesses, and genetic technology platforms. Its products include trait in soybeans, corn, canola, and cotton. The company also offers growers stacked-trait products. The Agricultural Productivity segment consists of the crop protection products, animal agriculture, lawn-and-garden herbicide products, and environmental technologies businesses. Its products include herbicide and other glyphosate-based herbicides, acetanilide-based herbicides, other selective herbicides, lawn-and-garden herbicides, bovine somatotropin, and swine genetics product lines. This segment also provides engineering, procurement, and construction management services; and equipment and process technologies. The company markets and sells its products through distributors, independent retailers and dealers, and agricultural cooperatives, as well as to growers outside the United States.
