Why are tectonic plates in Americas and Asia shifting in a sequence?
A major earthquake struck Tuesday night about 80 miles (130 kilometers) off the coast of northern California. The 7.0-magnitude quake struck at about 7:50 p.m. (2350 GMT) southwest of the coastal community of Crescent City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Web site.
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.9 struck late June 13 in the Andes Mountains, 940 miles north of Santiago, Chile, killing eight people and injuring several, the Chilean Interior Ministry said. Cities in Peru and Bolivia also were shaken, with residents in the Bolivian capital La Paz taking to the streets in panic.
If you look at the tectonic map, it will seem the tectonic plates in the Americas are shifting in a sequence. The same thing happened few months back.
In Mexico volcanic eruptions have caused some real eyebrows. Again a sequence of harmonic tremor was seen.
In Asia, specially in Sumatra area, the earthquakes and aftershocks have taken a periodic sequence.
Even in Japan the same thing happened.
Geologists are getting perplexed at it. According to some theory, the polar reversal and solar flares of extraordinary strength is causing the tremor in sequence pin pointing specific regions one after the other.
