Rural India rises to make politicians halt and listen - Lalu’s special train stopped to make him hear women’s concerns in Baraunni
The rural India is boiling with anger over the out of touch attitude of the Congress led UPA coalition Government in India. The Congress and its allies have done little for the poor and neglected rural India after promising a lot to win the election.
According to media reports, faced with an acute scarcity of power and water, hundreds of residents of Barauni town and adjoining areas on Sunday met Railway Minister Lalu Prasad who got his special train halted to listen to their grievances.
A large number of people had assembled near Garhara railway yard to meet Prasad when he was travelling to Saharsa to attend an official programme, an East Central Railway spokesman said.
On coming to know about the local problems, the minister got his special train stopped and heard the grievances of the people who had gathered there.
They also handed over a memorandum requesting Prasad to ask state authorities to take immediate steps to improve power and water supply.
