A new NATO like military alliance is in the forming between India and US to counter China – Indian participation at America’s Central and Pacific Commands
The foreign secretary Shyam Saran of India and the US under-secretary for defense policy, Douglas Feith, during Saran’s visit to Washington a few days ago negotiated and signed a mind boggling new treaty.
India is to permanently station defense attaches at America’s Central and Pacific Commands as part of a rapidly expanding military relationship.
The final implementation will happen at the time when PM Manmohan Singh visits Washington at the end of June 2005.
America and India need each other. It was very clear during the Tsunami relief that two largest democracies are ready to work with each other.
The strategic relationship is very important to contain Chinese growing military threat. US Defense Secretary recently mentioned that China is posing a very large military threat with huge increase in military strength and budget. India and US can counter this strategic threat.
