Pentagon admits prison guards abused Koran kicking the Muslim holy book around and splashing it with urine in Guantanamo Bay– time to dismantle the episode of disgrace?
Disrespecting someone’s religion is the biggest disrespect of your own religion. This is because no matter what you call him or her, God is the same. There are no two different Gods for two different religions.
The Pentagon finally admitted, according to Financial Times and other media sources that five cases of abuse did take place in Guantanamo Bay prison. The Amnesty has cited this as the worst case of human right violation. Whether someone urinated or flushed it down the toilet is not the issue. The issue is that of attitude and disrespect for people of other religions and cultures.
The great nation of America who liberated the world from the claws of Hitler, who help the world out of communism, is today embarrassed, disgraced and totally humiliated in the face of all decency in front of the whole world.
US Southern Command on Friday said one guard had been reprimanded after he urinated near the vent of a prison cell, and his urine was carried into the cell and splashing a prisoner and his Koran.
Abu Gharib abuses, displaying Saddam in his bare underpants and abusing Koran like this do not help fighting the terror. It just helps to make terrorists heroes of the Islamic world.
America may like to think of closing down the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.
But one should mot think that the whole America is like this. The majority of American people are very decent and are respectful of others religions and cultures. The act of a few does not change the course of history or the future.
But one question remains in the mind of all – where did these hatred about others religions and culture come from? Is nine-eleven terrorism the cause or the effect?
America is a great nation. It is a pride to be a citizen of a country like America. But some one must get to the bottom of one thing – where is this hatred coming from?
