Tamil Tigers have obtained two aircrafts and are trying to get hold of other aircrafts and drones. Use of drone in Sri Lanka can devastate the Sri Lankan military.

India has decided to help Sri Lanka in developing an adequate air defense system to cope up with the Tamil Tiger challenge.

According to media sources, India has offered to help Sri Lanka redesign its air-defense network following June 2 talks in New Delhi between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga. This offer followed allegations that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam rebels obtained at least two aircraft. India is willing to consider all proposals, from training Sri Lankan personnel to providing guidance and advice on designing air defenses.

India and the United States expressed concern June 3 over reports that Sri Lankan rebel group the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam are seeking to build up an air force, Colombo said June 4.
