How do you control obesity, diabetes and cholesterol
It is a big problem for many of us. Obesity, diabetes and cholesterol are killing people all over the world. Here are some very practical tips to control the same.
Eat what you like within moderation, exercise heavily and live a happy life. Diets are good only if they can be integrated with your life style. What this means is that if you are on a diet, you have to create an environment for yourself where you do not crave for your favorite food.
Most important is to have a goal to get out and stay out of medications as long as possible. For that you need to work very hard. You must set your priorities. The first priority will be to exercise early in the morning – every single day. Make it a point if you don’t work out in the morning, you cannot start your day.
As for exercise, you cannot just run or jump or work on pushups. These will hurt your body and knees eventually. You have to combine land-based exercise with water sports. For example you can walk fast for half hour and then swim for an hour. At night you should spend another hour in exercise. Many people join martial arts. They earn their higher belts through very hard work. And in the process lose weight and get physically fit. But the downside of martial arts is getting hurt in the joints, muscles and bones. A fracture can be devastating and may send you back to where you started. Please note most important goal of exercising is not to get hurt. If you get hurt, you will be out of workout sessions for a long time. It will just reverse everything you gained.
Martial arts is excellent if you can avoid spurring. That is when people get hurt. If you are young, spurring may be ok. If you have diabetes you should definitely avoid spurring.
Your exercise schedule should also be interesting to you. You may replace walking with tennis. You may also replace swimming with biking and so on.
You should plan build stamina. Request a stress test from your doctor often to see if your heart can bear more stress. Many have goals to increase the stamina by at least 50% every year. If you have diabetes, please follow your doctor for blood tests especially A1C. As far as cholesterol is concerned please make sure you eat things to increase HDL and lower LDL.
