NATO warns Uzbekistan for refusing international investigation of the human rights violation in Andijan

Finally the free world and the stalwarts of democracy moved to restore the balance. Atrocities in Uzbekistan’s Andijan was so blatant that the free world just cannot stay put.

The Parliamentary Assembly of NATO said June 1 in Brussels that Uzbekistan could face sanctions from the alliance for its failure to allow an international investigation of the events that recently occurred in Andijan. The assembly, which represents more than 40 countries, unanimously condemned Tashkent for "a disproportionate use of force" in Andijan and said it would examine Uzbekistan's membership in the alliance's EuroAtlantic Council and the Partnership for Peace program. The assembly also called on NATO members to cease all forms of military support for the Uzbek armed forces.
