Sonia ensures continuity of the Nehru/Gandhi Dynasty in India – finds a way to make son Rahul number two in the party
Sonia Gandhi will go for elections to the Congress Working Committee (CWC). What a change in attitude? But behind the scene the reasons for such democratic behavior is something that will trigger your hairs all straight up!
So far, during her tenure, she has been nominating CWC members. But to accommodate her heir-apparent son Rahul Gandhi in the CWC, she has decided to go for elections.
AICC General Secretary Ambika Soni said to reporters that Rahul Gandhi will get all the votes if there is an election. Soni continued to say, “Sonia Gandhi wants an election within the Congress party - for her, and all party-men are equal. However, she would prefer if the CWC members are elected by AICC and PCC delegates”.
According to Soni, Sonia wants to bring Rahul Gandhi and his friends into lime light and give them all the posts.
Last time, it was in 1997, during the tenure of Congress President Sitaram Kesri that elections were held to the CWC at the AICC Plenary in Kolkata. Earlier, in 1992, under P V Narasimha Rao, CWC elections were held during the AICC Plenary in Tirupati.
There were never any elections under Sonia Gandhi. She nominates people to posts.
But this time she plans elections since it will be an obvious act to nominate Rahul and hand Congress party to all his friends.
According to political analysts, the process may back fire and may become the death sentence for the congress party. Democratic leaders should not be selected like kings in a country. These political leaders should grow through the grass root of the political infrastructure. Just belonging to a family does not qualify Rahul as the next “King” of India. Sonia is running India with the help of a coalition that survives on the support of communists. The Government is just a coalition of former staunch enemies. They are just there together to prevent BJP from coming to power. But that cannot be the basis of a long-term strategy for any party.
