Iranian nukes - was it a misquote by German magazine or Musharraf’s unintended confession?
Musharraf backtracked his statement that Iran is actively looking for nuclear weapons.
German magazine Der Spiegel on May 28 misquoted Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf as saying that Iran was "very anxious to have" nuclear weapons, Pakistan's foreign office said on May 29th . The statement came after Iran challenged the article earlier May 29.
International think tanks believe there is a lot behind Musharraf’s initial statement. He just did not realize what he was doing in making that statement.
Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf had warned that pre-emptive military action against Iran would result in colossal destruction and greater unrest within the Muslim world, Pakistani newspaper the Daily Times reported May 28. Musharraf also said he believed that the Iranian regime was seeking to weaponize nuclear technology.
What is the truth? Was it a slip of tongue?
Is there a doubt that Musharraf knows better about what is happening in Iran than any one else? There are signs of covert nuclear technology transfer from Pakistan to neighboring Iran. Then who knows better about Iran’s nuclear program that Pakistani President General Musharraf?
