Nukes in Central and South America?
Something serious is happening in the South and Central America that may not make Bush Administration happy. Some kind of a cooperation is taking place between several countries in making south of United States of America nuclear capable.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on May 22 that Venezuela will launch a national nuclear development program "for peaceful purposes, not to make bombs." Chavez said Venezuela's nuclear program will be jointly developed with other Latin American countries, Europe and Iran. Chavez said Argentina plans to restart its nuclear development program, and that Mexico plans on starting a nuclear program. He did not mention the European countries that might cooperate with Venezuela's nuclear ambitions.
All the nations start their nuke program based on peaceful purposes – at least they say so. This just gives them a cover for moving ahead with the military nuke programs.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said further on May 22 his government will conduct a broad review of its bilateral relations with the United Status if the Bush administration does not extradite Luis Posada Carriles to Caracas. Chavez also said his government has "proof" that Posada Carriles participated in actions to destabilize his government in April 2002, when he was toppled from power for about 48 hours.
