American military still most respected in the world – there are reasons for India to be especially grateful to America
No matter what you think, just a few incidences and the acts of a few people cannot undo the great work American Military has performed for the world. It was an interesting scenario at the end of the Second World War. The Germans Nazis knew they lost the war. The Soviet Red Army and the American Army were on the two sides. The Germans had a choice to surrender to the Russians or the Americans. The Germans would do anything to reach the Americans and surrender. They tried their best to avoid the Russians in fear of harsh treatment.
History documents the American Military’s achievements in the Second World War. America Military saved the world from Hitler and Japanese ruthless Monarchy. The world would have been adifferent place if the other side would have won with America on the sideline. It was in Korea when Americans again volunteered to stand for freedom and justice with their own blood. Vietnam was another time when Americans again tried to stand for freedom. No matter what was the outcome, no other Army in the world ever sacrificed so much for the freedom and justice in the world.
Even today America along with India is leading in trying to secure freedom, justice and democracy in Nepal.
India is especially grateful to America for two reasons in spite of the fact America and India had their ups and downs.
First, America was instrumental in a way for India’s independence. America influenced the British at the end of the Second World War to provide freedom to India. Britain could not say no to America who just saved them from ruthless Nazis. That does not mean Indian freedom movement had less influence. If America did not stand for India, still India would be a free nation today. The only difference is that India would have been free in 1960 instead of 1947.
The second instance was during the India-China war. India and China had a war in which India was not prepared militarily. In short, china defeated Indian Army decisively and could have marched towards Delhi. Indian Army lacked ammunition; infrastructure and the plan to defeat the war hardened Chinese Peoples Liberation Army. When China was in a position to almost run over the Indian defenses, Prime Minister Nehru (Father of Indira Gandhi) asked for American Military help. America responded sending an aircraft career in the Bay of Bengal to defend India against China. Again American Army was ready to stand for freedom, democracy and sacrifice their life. China quickly understood the situation, decided to retreat and not proceed any further.
American Military, people and culture is the most open and most progressive compared to any other country. No other country treats the immigrants like America does. No other Military stands for the freedom of the world in general.
That is why still Americans are world’s most favorite people no matter what has happened in recent years. Just a few incidences of abuse and human rights violation by a few in American Military cannot change the history and most probable future. America as well as India are stalwarts of freedom and democracies all around the world.
