America-India relations to get better - Bush looks forward to building on "very good" India-US ties
George Bush is bullish on India and wants to build a strong and valuable relationship between the two largest democracies.
According to media reports, US President George W Bush looks forward to "continuing to work closely" with India "as both countries move forward to build upon what is a good relationship," the White House has said.
Referring to the meeting between the two leaders in Moscow earlier this week, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said Bush and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh "had a very good visit" during lunch when they were in the Russian capital for the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Allied forces over Nazi Germany in the Second World War.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had said that the United States and India were "cooperating on a global strategy for peace, and on defence, energy and growth."
"A few weeks ago, Indian Foreign Minister K Natwar Singh met with President Bush and they discussed ways (so that) we might accelerate our cooperation still further and we look forward to a July visit by Prime Minister Singh," Rice told a Senate Appropriations Committee.
