Nepal continues to be a country torn apart by the Maoists – Nepalese Communists. Nepalese soldiers on May 15 rescued roughly 600 students who had been taken captive in western Nepal by communist rebels earlier in the week. The Royal Nepalese Army rescued the students in the village of Niskot, about 200 miles west of the capital.

India has recently resumed some military aid to Nepal to fight the communist insurgents.
