Russia flexing its mussel to reverse Velvet Revolution? Russia denies cutting oil supplies to Ukraine

May 15, 2005

Russian oil firms LUKoil, Tatneft and TNK-BP said May 14 they have not halted oil deliveries to Ukraine. The companies issued the denials in response to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko's May 14 accusations that Russia had deliberately interrupted oil deliveries to Ukraine to try and influence the new government, and that no deliveries have been made for five days. TNK-BP's press office said that it is possible that somewhat-decreased deliveries are being made while repairs are carried out on oil pipelines running to Ukraine, but that a total cutoff has not occurred.
This just shows how nervous the new Ukraine Government is! Also it shows how vulnerable Ukraine is without energy supply from Russia!
