Russia not as quiet as it seems from outside
Russia is a society of various kinds of people with different outlook and philosophies. President Putin represents a major group of people but Russians in general are independent thinkers. The country is not as quiet as it seems from outside.
About 1,000 demonstrators clashed with police in Moscow during the May 9 V-E Day commemoration, The Moscow Times reported May 11. Members of the Communist Party, the Rodina Party and radical youth groups attempted to stage their own celebrations, since mostly only those with government permission were allowed near the Red Square parade because of security concerns. One group threw smoke bombs and rocks at police, but retreated after police forced group members back. About 200 people were arrested, according to Moscow police.
