It will be great match to see India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh take on the rest of the world in cricket at Houston Astrodome in the US - during June 16-19. Indian Americans are waiting for this one.

Regulars from the India and Pakistan cricket teams are likely to play for an Asian XI in a three-match one-day series scheduled in the home of baseball - the Houston Astrodome in the US - during June 16-19.

Anil Kumble, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have agreed to play for the Asian squad against a World XI team, ‘The News’ reported on Thursday. From the Pakistan team, captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Yousuf Youhana, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami and Rashid Latif have been signed by the organisers, Cricket World International (CWI), senior official Hasan Jalil said.

He added that the three-match series was part of an effort to promote the game in the US and a follow up to two double-wicket competitions held in New York and Houston since 2000. "We got good response for those two tournaments and we are hoping that with a proper one-day series in which the world's top players are involved this event would be a bigger draw and sell-out," he said. The series, which would consist of two 45-overs a side games followed by a proper 50-overs a side concluding match, is said to have gotten the nod from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Mahela Jayawardena and Dilhara Fernando of Sri Lanka would also play for the Asian team. For the World XI, CWI have negotiated with Ricardo Powell, Wavell Hinds and Dawyne Bravo (all West Indies), Chris Harris, Hamish Marshal (New Zealand), Heath Streak (Zimbabwe), Mark Boucher and Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa), Andy Bichel (Australia), Nasser Hussain (England) and John Davison (Canada).
