Pakistan Military receives night vision and maneuvering techniques from Americans – India focuses on building next generation fighter air crafts with Russians and Americans
Pakistan Military is receiving night vision, maneuvering and other operational techniques applicable to fighting in the dark from the American Military. According to sources, Pakistan Military expressed concerns to American that they do not have the techniques to find the Al-Queda operatives in the dark. The Americans hope that Pakistanis will use these night operation techniques to hunt down the Al-Queda and Taliban operatives in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border areas especially in the nighttime. Some international think tanks believe, this will eventually come back and haunt the Indian Army because Pakistanis may secretly pass these techniques to the militants in the Kashmir. In addition, Pakistan may use these techniques against India if and when the next saga of hostility cycle erupts.
India on the other hand is focusing on building next generation aircrafts. This includes immediate buying of advanced aircrafts from America and technology transfer from the Russians.
India's air force chief said on April 26 he is waiting for a reply from U.S. aircraft maker Lockheed Martin Corp. regarding India's plan to purchase 126 multi-role combat aircraft. The Indian air force has requested information that would detail potential costs and delivery schedules. Lockheed Martin Corp. is one of four major aircraft manufacturers being considered for the multibillion dollar purchase.
Indian Defense Secretary Ajay Vikram Singh said April 26 after meeting with Russian Defense Minster Sergei Ivanov that India and Russia could sign an agreement regarding intellectual property rights by June. The deal would allow for the development of defense technologies, including more modern fighters.
