India humiliates England in T20 World Cup Cricket
Suresh Mehta from Colombo, Sri Lanka
Sep. 23, 2012

In response to a fine Indian batting of 170 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs, England was bundled out for 80 runs in less than 15 overs.
English players just could not handle Indian spinners and sharp swing from Irfan Pathan. Vulnerability of English batsmen against Indian spinners is well known in South Asian pitches. But the English parade was spectacular as India took revenge of England did in English soil taking advantage of English condition after India won the world cup last year.
Simply put, other than the Craig Kieswetter (W) scoring 35 brisk run, none of the English player could demonstrate international level adult cricket skills. England depends heavily on strategies on how to handle individual players on the opponent side. India understood that last year and took evasive action by changing the structure of the Indian team. Irfan Pathan opened with Gambhir. Harbachan Singh and Pijush Chawla played instead of Ashwin and Zaheer Khan. English strategies against expected Indian line up failed and the English team was fish out of water in the field.
