According to PTI, Microsoft India Development Centre (MIDC) today said it would file for 70 additional patents in India this year apart from an investment of US$ 100 million in R&D.
"Driven by a vision to innovate, the teams at MIDC here had filed for 40 patents last year and we would be filing for an additional 70 patents this year," MIDC MD Srini Koppolu told newspersons here.
However, he did not disclose in which fields the patents would be filed.
Microsoft has planned to invest US $100 million in phases for its key projects in R&D, including service for Unix, networking and management technologies, Koppolu said.
Replying to a query, he said MIDC will not restrict its head count to present figures as "it will be a continuous process to hire talent."
MIDC, the second best facility after the Redmond in the US, has released several key products in recent years, demonstrating its ability to conceptualise and develop products for millions of diverse set of customers all over the world, he said.
